Black Ops 7 Creative Director on Battlefield 6: “They’re Doing Their Thing”
Yesterday, at gamescom Opening Night Live, Treyarch finally unveiled Call of Duty: Black Ops 7! It’s been quite some time since the Call of Duty franchise went head-to-head with a Battlefield game, but that’s what’s happening later this year, when Battlefield 6 releases on October 10, and Black Ops 7 fires out on November 14.
Is Battlefield 6 a threat to the great Call of Duty machine? This is something that might be on a lot of shooter fans’ minds, and you can bet people will ask Treyarch about it.
Black Ops 7 Dev Says Battlefield 6 Is a “Fun Game”
Speaking to IGN ahead of Opening Night Live, Black Ops 7 Associate Creative Director Miles Leslie was asked whether Battlefeild 6 is a threat to their game, or even if EA’s game is on their radar at all.
Leslie’s answer is safe, though not unexpected, as he said, “”I got to play this weekend. It’s a fun game. We’re fans of all games and I think we look for inspiration anywhere. But we’re focused on our own craft. They’re doing their thing. We know if we can hit our goals, we’re going to deliver what the fans want and that’s the key, because if we’re happy when we’re play testing, then we know fans are going to be happy play testing.”
“We’re fans of the FPS genre. We’re fans of lots of games. Let’s all have fun,” the developer added.
With how everyone is afraid of offending anyone these days, I don’t think we’re going to get an answer spicier than that. Of course, it’s perfectly OK to play and like both games, but somehow, we doubt that will happen, given each game’s fan bases are fiercely loyal.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set for release on November 14, and we’ll be getting a full blowout at Call of Duty Next on September 30.
In related news, Battlefield 6 publisher Electronic Arts is reportedly targeting the franchise for annual releases over the next 5-6 years, following Call of Duty’s yearly release schedule.
