According to a member of Gearbox’s Public Relations & Marketing team, there will not be a level cap increase in the upcoming campaign DLC. He writes on the official Gearbox forums, “No. Just using our tools to record footage and change our character on the fly.”

Thanks, IcyGuy.

Original Story

Hot off the press from the good folks over at Gearbox Software is Gaige the Mechromancer’s official introduction video to the Borderlands 2 series. This brand spanking new character is also introduced by none other then the most sophisticated fellow found on the dangerous planet of Pandora, Sir Hammerlock:

This action packed trailer gives us a glimpse of what Gaige the Mechromancer and her robot buddy Death-Trap are capable of in action, as well goes into the details of some of her unique skill trees. To learn even more about her, make sure to check out my DLC review right here! Even though Gaige the Mechromancer has been out for nearly a week, this video does contain a new piece of information that Gearbox has been very quiet about.

It seems as though there might be a possible level cap raise along with the upcoming DLC for Borderlands 2 titled ‘Captain Scarlett and her pirate’s booty‘, the first of four campaign expansions. While watching Gaige’s introduction video and upon pausing it at the 0:31 mark, you will notice that Gaige has 52 unused skill points. However, the current max skill points you can have is currently 46 after reaching the level cap of 50 and going to the New-U station to re-spec your character. This may mean that Captain Scarlett’s DLC may be raising the level cap up to 56.

If this is true, what do you think about Gearbox raising the level cap so quickly? Leave your thoughts on the comment section below.
