Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Leaks Confirms DMZ Mode; First Look at Lobby Menu

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer leaks

Looks like there is some truth to the long rumored Escape From Tarkov inspired game mode for this year’s Call of Duty, as images from a private Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer’s play session have been posted online, confirming DMZ mode and more!

In what we assume was supposed to be a private play session, Activision has apparently invited a number of Los Angeles Ram players, so that they could be among the first to play this year’s Call of Duty. Well, it didn’t take very long after the session started to see some leaks, as some of the players took to their Instagram to posts some images of the event, giving us our first look at the game’s multiplayer lobby, and short glimpse of gameplay.

However, the biggest piece of news to come from this is that the rumored DMZ mode has now seemingly been confirmed in another now deleted post.

DMZ, which is reported to be similar, or at least inspired by Escape From Tarkov is apparently launching later this year as part of the Modern Warfare 2 experience. According to sources close to industry insider Tom Henderson, the mode won’t be a free-to-play title, but again, a mode part of the core experience that will evolving over time with the main game. Little else is known outside of the Escape From Tarkov comparison.

For those unaware, Escape From Tarkov is a first-person shooter that focuses on sending players through missions that are known as raids. Ultimately, the goal is to survive whiling looting everything you can. If you die , you lose everything, and if you fail to extract at the end, you lose everything. It certainly is a unique game mode that puts a twist on the whole survival genre, and while it does sound easy to follow, most who have played can probably tell you it ain’t no walk in the park.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of spin Infinity Ward has given it, and hopefully it’s as fun as the experience offered from Escape From Tarkov. We should hopefully be hearing more about Modern Warfare 2 this month, so stay tuned!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released this October 28 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
