Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Sequel Will Be “Most Advanced Experience” in Franchise History; Warzone 2.0 to Be Revealed Later This Year

Modern Warfare Sequel

While Activision has yet to officially announce what this year’s Call of Duty game will be titled, the publishe has already revealed before that it’ll be a Modern Warfare sequel (which would mean it’ll be called Modern Warfare 2, no?). Even if we don’t know its title, the publisher has called this year’s Call of Duty the “most advanced experience” in franchise history.

This was revealed by Activision during its most recent financials earning report, where the publisher also confirmed that the upcoming Warzone 2.0 will be revealed later this year, and will have “groundbreaking innovations.”

The Call of Duty teams delivered substantial gameplay improvements for Vanguard and Warzone in the first quarter. Development on this year’s premium and Warzone experiences, led by Infinity Ward, is proceeding very well. This year’s Call of Duty is a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare®, the most successful Call of Duty title to date, and will be the most advanced experience in franchise history. The new free-to-play Warzone experience, which is built from the ground-up alongside the premium game, features groundbreaking innovations to be revealed later this year.

Activision’s wording on the upcoming Modern Warfare sequel hasn’t changed, as just a couple of months ago, the publisher has called the game the “most ambitious” plan in franchise history. Outside of that, we know that this year’s Call of Duty and Warzone will utilize a new game engine, which should mean that we’ll be getting a major graphical boost.

Once we know more about Call of Duty 2022, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
