Control 2 In the Works at Remedy and 505 Games, New Concept Art Revealed

Remedy Entertainment has signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish Control 2 (formerly known as Codename Heron). It will be a direct sequel to the 2019’s critically acclaimed title, Control.

Control franchise’s intellectual property ownership will remain with Remedy Entertainment, and Control 2 has a massive initial development budget of about $52 million USD (EUR 50 million). The title will be launching on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, and will be built using Remedy’s iconic Northlight Engine.

Mikael Kasurinen, Game Director of the Control Franchise, said in a statement:

“With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us.

With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”

Co–CEOs of 505 Games, Rami and Raffi Galante added:

“We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together. Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies.

Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2.”

Remedy also published a new Concept Art for Control 2:

Earlier last year, Remedy also confirmed another title in the works set in the Control universe. Alongside Control’s sequel, the developer is working on a PVE multiplayer spin-off dubbed “Project Condor.”

While the news of a Control sequel is definitely exciting, it will be a while till we get to play the title as the company has said that Control 2 is in its “concept stage.”

If you’re curious what we thought of the first game, head on over here for our Control review where we state, “Like a fine whine, Remedy improves over time and Control delivers a world flipped upside down, spat out, and realities thrown into oblivion. I simply couldn’t put it down.”
