Death Stranding 2: What Was Impossible 3 Years Ago, Now Possible; Is Not a “Regular” Sequel Says Kojiima

death stranding 2

As revealed in the latest Brain Structure Podcast, Hideo Kojima, while not yet ready to discuss in full detail, did share a piece of new information about the upcoming Death Stranding sequel, stating that it wouldn’t be just a regular sequel.

This a sequel, so it’s my second time working with Norman and the technology has really improved over the last three years. Things that were impossible before are now possible. So we have been really challenging ourselves. It’s not just a regular sequel in that sense.

When asked about Sam and his specific role in Death Stranding 2, Kojima had this to say:

I can’t say much yet. I believe a lot of people liked Sam, and I’m hoping those people return to DS2. And in order to appeal to people who didn’t play the first one, I’ve made the game nostalgic, but also new. I can’t say anymore than that right now.

A very vague comment, and we aren’t entirely sure what he means by making the game more nostalgic to appease new players, but I suppose we’ll find out once the game is ready.

While sequels typically take less time to create, we wouldn’t be surprised if Death Stranding 2 is still a few years out. Fingers crossed that’s not the case, as we are eager to get our hands on this one ourselves.

Death Stranding 2 currently has no release date, and is set for release exclusively for the PS5. You can watch the reveal trailer for the sequel right here.

Yes, please hype up another bomb of a game by setting unrealistic expectations for your incredibly narrow skillset.
