EA’s direct download application, Origin, is now available for Mac users worldwide.
Mac users will now have access to similar features to that found on the PC, “including cloud storage to save and continue games, social connectivity via friends lists, and more.” More importantly, for those who play on both Mac and PC devices, Origin will now allow dual-platform play for select EA titles. For example, users can purchase a game on a PC and download it on the Mac later on, provided the title is available for both platforms.
Origin for Mac launches with a few nifty titles, including Dragon Age 2, Batman: Arkham City, LEGO Harry Potterand The Sims 3. Those interested in the Sims will be happy to know that the Anniversary sale will give players the chance to download The Sims 3 base game, plus numerous expansion and stuff packs for as little as $10. These savings on Origin are only available for a limited time, so players should act fast.
EA notes that for the best experience on the Mac, users should be running OS X 10.6.8 or newer with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better.
