Ed Boon, the head of NetherRealm Studios, just confirmed what his next project on Twitter is via a casual Q&A thread, and  shouldn’t really surprise anyone. According to him, NeatherRealm Studios is working on either Injustice 3 or Mortal Kombat 12 as their next video game. This reveal occurred on social media just a little over a month after the co-creator says that the next NetherRealm Studios game announcement will happen in “due time.”

It’s not really surprising to hear this from Boon, as the studio has been focused on the Mortal Kombat franchise since its inception back in 2010. While NetherRealm’s next project has no official announce date, nor do we know what it’s about specifically, players can rest assured that the next game is under development. There is a new Mortal Kombat game announced just last month, though it’s for mobile titled “Mortal Kombat Onslaught.

For reference, Mortal Kombat 11 as released back in 2019, so we’re due for a new entry. Could a reveal be part of this year’s The Game Awards next month? We wouldn’t be shocked if it was.
