As if there was any doubt, Elden Ring’s lone expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, manages to do wonders at retail, as Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC sales have surpassed five million units sold in just its first three days of availability!

This was announced via a press release sent out by Bandai Namco who mentioned:

“Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia and FromSoftware, Inc. expresses their heartfelt gratitude towards fans who have enjoyed ELDEN RING™ and ELDEN RING™ Shadow of the Erdtree, and will continue to strive to provide deep and lasting quality content for fans worldwide.”

Since  its release two years ago in 2022, it has sold more than 25 million units total worldwide. ELDEN RING™ Shadow of the Erdtree combines the same development capabilities of FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment’s international marketing power, and has sold over 5 million units worldwide within 3 days of its release on 21 June 2024.”

For those still on the fence on the DLC, here are some of its features:

Adventure in the Realm of Shadow

The land where Marika became God-Queen and where the Erdtree was born.
In the Realm of Shadow where the fields and dungeons seamlessly intervene, an adventure filled with abundant freedom and full of mysteries and discoveries awaits.

New threats

Players will confront threatening bosses in the vast fields and elaborate dungeons.
After enduring intense battles, passing through the brink of death, players will experience an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

Personalised character

The addition of a variety of new weapons, sorceries, and skills will bring freshness to the battles. Players can freely customize the character to match their play style and confront threats with a uniquely personalised approach.

Untold stories

Why did Miquella head to the Realm of Shadow?
Along with the drama caused by the characters with various motives, a story that was not told in the Lands Between unfolds.

There was a patch released just yesterday to make the DLC easier in case you’ve heard that it’s a bit too hard.

Congrats, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco! Not really surprised at this success, but a congrats all the same.
