While DICE is toiling away on the next still-untitled Battlefield game, a group of fans have taken it upon themselves to deliver a remake (sort of) of Battlefield 1943! Titled “Battle 43,” this fan project remakes the original game in Fortnite! Before dismissing it, you’ll want to check out the gameplay trailer since it actually looks good.
This will be a free-to-play experience, which means the barrier to entry is essentially non-existent. Check out the launch trailer where we see the Guadacanal. map.
Battlefield 1943 Recreated in Fortnite as Battle 43
Those who wish to try it out, search for “Battle43” in Fortnite. That’s it. It’s super easy, and there’s no loss in trying it. The creators even rolled out a massive update for it today, bringing the new map, Christmas-themed content, class changes, and more. You can read up on the project in its official Discord.
For those unaware, the original Battlefield 1943 was released back in 2009 on the Xbox 360 and PS3. It was surprisingly well received; back then, it became the fastest-selling download-only game after the first week.
While it’s not going to replace DICE’s Battlefield game or anything, this is still one fantastic fan project, and shows much passion the Battlefield community has for the franchise.
Speaking of DICE, the studio and EA are starting to trickle info about it gamers, as the publisher announced that “large-scale testing” will be done in “early 2025,” which suggests it will be released sometime within the year. Don’t expect specialists from Battlefield 2042 to return, but traditional classes will be returning confirmed.
