Sony has confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 will be exclusive to the PS5 for only six months. In a new ad for the DualSense controller, Sony showcased various PS5 titles including Final Fantasy 16, confirming the timeframe.
During the Final Fantasy 16 footage in the ad, a small text underneath it reads “Final Fantasy 16 is anticipated summer 2023. PS5 exclusive for six months.” This period is shorter than PlayStation’s usual timed exclusivity periods like Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo, which usually lasts for a year.

For comparison, the same ad featured Forspoken, which is exclusive to the PS5 for at least two years after launch. It seems like Final Fantasy 16 will make its way to PC six months after its release, since a PC launch was mentioned and then deleted in the game’s original reveal trailer.
Square Enix has also confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 is close to completion, and will feature various difficulty options including a New Game+ mode. How do you feel about Final Fantasy 16’s timed exclusivity? Let us know in the comments below.
