At the PlayStation Showcase today, Square Enix has unveiled the Final Fantasy 16 launch trailer, dubbed “Salvation.” The trailer features Clive Rosfield and Cid as well as other characters, and shows off both regular melee and Eikonic combat as well as cinematics from the story.

Final Fantasy 16 follows protagonist Clive Rosfield in the realm of Valisthea, reworking the traditional summon concept into Eikons, mythical beings that can be mantled by empowered human beings known as “Dominants.” Clive as the First Shield of Rosaria is caught up in a tragedy that takes his brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Pheonix, and swears revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit with the aid of Torgal and a new, grumpy Cid.
Final Fantasy 16 releases June 22, 2023 on the PS5. A pre-launch celebration will be hosted on the official Square Enix Twitch channel on June 11, and a demo for the game is set to go live shortly before launch.
