Final Fantasy 16 Quality & Performance Graphics Modes on PS5 Detailed

final fantasy 16 trailer

During the PAX East 2023 panel for the game, producer Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) revealed that Final Fantasy 16 will have both quality and performance graphics modes on PS5. The “Graphics” quality mode targets 30fps at 4K (2160p) resolution, while the “Frame Rate” performance mode targets 60fps at 1440p (2K).

Yoshi-P dove deep into the world of Final Fantasy 16 for fans at PAX East 2023, with support from Localization Director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox. Besides its combat systems, general gameplay, and portions of the story, the producer also revealed the technical marvels the title has been able to achieve on the PS5. With incredibly short loading times made possible by the console’s hardware power, Final Fantasy 16 may well be set to become the PS5’s “killer app” three years into the console’s launch.

However, Final Fantasy 16 also takes care to cater to gamers who seek a smoother gameplay experience at the expense of quality. The game includes a 4K-at-30fps “Graphics” mode as well as a 1440p-at-60fps “Frame Rate” performance mode, and players will be able to switch between these modes at any point during gameplay.

The PAX East showcase, visually breathtaking as it was, employed the Frame Rate mode to better show off gameplay, which all but guarantees that the Graphics mode will provide an even more impressive visual experience when gamers get their hands on the title later this year.

Final Fantasy 16 is set for a June 22, 2023 launch on the PS5.
