Those having issues connecting to Fortnite, it’s not just you, as Epic Games has pulled the Fortnite servers down this January 18, and this is for your standard maintenance, during which time, a new patch will be released.

Update: Epic Games has announced that they are aware of players seeing the “successfully logged out” message and are working on it.
We're currently investigating an issue with some players receiving a "successfully logged out" message when attempting to login to Fortnite.

As you can see, downtime will being at 4 am ET/1 am PT, though matchmaking will be affected before that. Usually, matchmaking is turned off 15-30 minutes before servers are taken offline. As for the duration, we’re expecting this to last around 1-3 hours as per the norm.
