FTC Extends Deadline for Fortnite Shop Refunds

Fortnite Shop Refund FTC

Back in December 2022, Epic Games agreed to pay $245 million dollars to settle allegations from the FTC that claimed it tricked players into making in-game purchases. As a result, those affected were emailed back in September of 2023, eligible for a refund on unwanted Fortnite shop items. The original deadline to claim that refund was set to end this month, but the FTC has now extended it into February.

Originally ending on January 19, the new deadline (via press release) to claim a refund for Fortnite purchases is now February 29. Do note that the ones eligible for the refund are those the FTC emailed, roughly 37 million of the 500 million players who play Fortnite.

The FTC made allegations that Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, used “dark patterns and other deceptive practices” to trick players into making purchases, which was found to be a privacy violation. The company agreed to settle, which saw refunds open last September.

If you believe you’re amongst the many affected by this, the FTC has listed resources (below) on how to get that refund.
