Ghost of Yotei Update 1.008 Drops as First Post-Release Patch
While Sucker Punch Productions has released technically two day-one updates already, the studio isn’t stopping ther in making sure Ghost of Yotei is a premium experience.
Just a day after release, the studio has now pushed out Ghost of Yotei update 1.008 (complete version 1.008.000), which is another patch aimed at fixing issues. Don’t expect any new content to be added, given that the game is a single-player game and it was just recently released.
Ghost of Yotei Gets Surprise Patch Day After Release as Version 1.008
Update: After two days, Sucker Punch has finally released the official patch notes.
Performance and Stability
- Fixed a rare crash that could happen during a Wolf Den mission in Gun Valley.
- Fixed a rare crash that could happen when moving the camera around during combat while using the lock-on feature.
- Fixed a crash that could cause Ghost of Yotei to crash after sitting idle for more than 1 hour.
Gameplay
- Fixed a permanent mission blocking bug that could happen in “A Fiery Consequence” when the player enters the Matsumae through the side entrance but then quickly leaves to start a different mission.
Environment
- Updated art assets on Frontier Valley shrine preventing them from disappearing before Atsu could interact with it and also changed to the correct art assets once the shrine had been honored.
UI/UX
- Fixed a bug where the Frontier’s letterbox bars would overlap with Photo Mode UI.
Original Story:
Sucker Punch has not said anything about today’s update, and we suspect they won’t until much later in the day. For now, here are the known issues we know that needs to be patched:
- Coin glitch/bug where the coins disappear at the gambling tables
- Bear cub bug where the cub doesn’t follow even after playing the song
- Major (rare) bug in Kitsune quest where the game freezes
- Map issues
- Game crashing issues (different instances trigger it)
If we spot any other issues, we’ll add it to the pile.
For reference, the last patch released on launch day had the following changes:
- Updated some asset textures.
- Fixes a rare stability issue.
If you spot any specific issues that got fixed, or if you know of more issues that aren’t listed above, leave a comment below and let us know.
So far, Ghost of Yotei is off to an amazing start, as it currently has a solid 86 average on Metacritic and an 87 average on Open Critic.

Astute head was glitches with headbands when trying then on when I bumped into the trader out in the field
I had a bug where I was calling my horse but he just went zooming by in a random direction. I think the game thought I was in two places at once or something when I got off before because I noticed other weird things but that made it nearly impossible not being able to actually use the horse at all.
They need to fix the bug where calling your horse results in the horse running full sprint the opposite direction.
I’ve seen a few people say this, have yet to run into it myself, but my friend says it happens every time. I’m sure they are aware
i get a black screen when starting the game kinda frustating
Do you have VRR enabled? That will cause that (which is normal) for titles with VRR support. Does it for me all the time
The action command stops working. Anyone else having this issue? If deleted the game and downloaded it 3 times now. Rebooted the ps5…
