Admitting that game releases from Xbox first-party studios have been few and far between in recent years, CEO of Microsoft Gaming and Xbox head, Phil Spencer revealed on the Same Brain podcast that there will be a “great lineup” of Xbox first-party games coming in 2023, inclusive of Bethesda’s Redfall and Starfield titles.

One thing we’ve definitely heard loud and clear is it’s been too long since we’ve shipped kind of what people would say is a big first-party game. […] We’ve been a little light, but I look at 2023 and there’s a great lineup of games coming that I’m excited about. Getting our first real Xbox first-party games out with Bethesda, having them ship with Redfall and Starfield will be a lot of fun.

Spencer also revealed that a large-scale update is coming to the Xbox app on PC in the next few weeks, while speaking about cloud gaming and Xbox’s other investments to make a point about the inclusive, “all-in” ambitions of Microsoft’s gaming division.

Spencer previously announced that at least five Xbox first-party titles would be releasing in 2023, two of which are accounted for by Redfall and Starfield. As Microsoft looks to complete its acquisition of Activision-Blizzard within the next year, more projects could be added to that list once the deal closes.

As for the confirmed titles, a new trailer was released for Redfall last week showcasing some of its enemy types and gameplay.
