GTA 6 is probably one of the most awaited games ever made, but that does not mean Rockstar and Take-Two can simply stay quiet and stop promoting the game.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has once again spoken about the marketing campaign for GTA 6, explaining that the publisher already has a strategy planned and that it will be very different from the one used for GTA 5 back in 2013.

In a new interview, Zelnick explained that some investors asked him whether it was really necessary to spend money on marketing, considering the strength of the brand, its popularity, and the huge attention already surrounding the game.

GTA 6 Will Have a Marketing Strategy Built Around Modern Audiences

His answer, however, was very clear: yes, GTA 6 will still need promotion. The executive described the campaign as “very significant” and “broad-based,” but also designed around where audiences and attention are today.

“[We should expect] a very significant broad based marketing campaign that reflects where audiences and attention is today,” he added. “13 years ago we were still buying network television. We won’t be buying a lot of network television.”

In other words, we should not expect the same kind of marketing plan used for GTA 5. Zelnick pointed out that thirteen years ago Take-Two was still buying a lot of traditional television advertising, while today that type of investment will have much less importance.

Almost everyone already knows about GTA 6, so the game does not need help getting attention. Instead, Take-Two wants to build even more hype before release by using modern marketing focused on social media, digital platforms, and online conversations.

In other news, Take-Two CEO has also confirmed that GTA 6 will not be delayed again and confirms the November 19 release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. He also called GTA the most valuable entertainment franchise ever created.
