Helldivers 2 New Warbond “The Viper Commandos” Slither Out This June 13, and Here’s What’s in It
Arrowhead is set to unleash another round of new content to Helldivers 2, and that’s set to be released this June 13. The Helldivers 2 new warbond is called “The Viper Commandos” and this is the first of the new kind of Warbond by the studio, who is aiming to deliver “quality over quantity.”
According to Arrowhead, they’ve changed Warbonds due to player input. This means that the studio will roll out these Warbonds at a slower pace, which will give them more time to polish the designs. The arrangement of items in each Warbond to make room for new item types, and also “higher quality armor and weapons.” Expect “stronger theming” for each Warbond which will coordinate across all the items, emotes, armor passives and more.
Curious what this initiative has in tow with the changes? Read on, soldier!
Helldivers 2 New Warbond “The Viper Commandos” Content:
The Viper Commandos Theme: Think jungle. Think swamp. Think about a hot, humid trek through an untamed, marshy wilderness to do reconnaissance on some unliberated scum.
New Weapons:
AR-23A Liberator Carbine – a new version of the Liberator, this one has a modified, shortened form-factor that handles differently from the true classic, with a bit higher recoil, but faster handling that feels perfect for spraying and praying up close.
SG-22 Bushwhacker – a triple-barrel, sawed-off shotgun with two different firing modes, including one that fires all three barrels at once. This shotgun is a secondary weapon. Meaning you can equip your favorite AR primary, or your favorite shotgun primary, and keep the Bushwhacker handy for close encounters.
Armor:
PH-9 Predator – Inspired by a veteran of the Viper Commandos who was said to have held off an entire Terminid brood with nothing but a machine gun, pocket knife, and Orbital Laser. The headpiece has a beret, and it looks devastatingly cool when combined with the Mark of the Crimson Fang cape.
PH-202 Twigsnapper – For your jungle heavy, which looks awesome with the Executioner’s Canopy cape. Although, mixing and matching works great for both of these sets.
Note that both armors in this Warbond will feature the Peak Physique passive, which improves melee damage and weapon handling. This also features bare arms (with a variety of randomized skin tones) to keep your solider sweat-free in dealing with the enemies and the humid atmosphere.
Boosters, Patterns and More:
New Utility Item “Throwing Knife” – Imagine mowing down a crowd of Terminids and running out of ammo with only one bug remaining, no time to reload, so you dive backward and throw a hunting knife into its carapace right before it descends on you.
New Booster “Experimental Fusion” – Gives stims the added bonus of boosting your movement speed and reducing the damage you take for a short time.
New skins for hellpods, Exosuits and Pelican-1 inspired by the classic woodland and tiger stripe camouflage pattern. There are also new capes, player cards, and emotes incoming as well.
Expect a patch to be released a day or two before the new Warbond is live, which falls in line with the studio’s announcement before on how a new patch is out next week, though the cadence of patches will be a lot slower.
