Mega 95 Sega Genesis Handheld

Hyperskin is back with yet another classic gaming console turned handheld device, this time tacking on the Sega Genesis. Meet the Mega 95, a handheld gaming device that can play both Sega Genesis and Mega Drive cartridges.

As reported by The Verge and announced at CES 2024, the Mega 95 will sport a five-inch display that can be switched between a 4:3 and 16:9 display ratio. It’ll have an estimated 10 hours of battery life and even a USB-C port for charging and docking to play on a big screen. But the coolest feature, in my opinion, is that it can play the original cartridges that were released for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive.

Seriously, how awesome is that? Niche, sure, but if you have a bunch of old Genesis and Mega Drives down in the basement or attic storage, you may have the perfect reason to get them out again. However, if you owned the short-lived Sega Nomad that was released way back, you already had that as a possibility, minus the docking capabilities.

Beyond those details and images of its prototype build, Hyperskin has yet to reveal any pricing or release date for the Mega 95.
