Killzone: Mercenary Closed Multiplayer Beta Sign-Ups Now Open

Sony and Guerilla Games are finally getting ready to show of the multiplayer for the much-anticipated, handheld Vita title, Killzone: Mercenary. Starting today, you’ll be able to sign-up for the Closed beta event, but be quick as sign-ups close this Wednesday, July 17th.

Note that a sign-up does not guarantee a spot in the beta. Details about the Beta are very light, but it seems that we’ll be able to customize our character load-outs along with their cosmetic gear that will affect character’s performances.

Mercenary’s multiplayer suite will provide players with a diverse range of weapons, grenades, armor, and special VAN-Guard devices enabling the player to customize their multiplayer load-out slots. This customization supports the tactical element of the game; will you armor yourself up and go in like a tank, or take a more precise approach and assassinate enemies stealthily?

This was featured on the US PS Blog, while for those in the European region, you’ll be able to sign-up through here. Also, for those who got their beta code from the PS Home E3 event, keep holding on to those as they will not work for this beta, meaning if you want to participate you’ll need to sign-up still.

The Beta keys that were sent out from PlayStation Home will not work with this closed beta. In order to get in the closed beta be sure to sign up through the provided link in the blog post.

As for the Beta keys provided by PlayStation Home, hold on to those. More details will be coming soon.

So, what are you guys hoping for? Could Mercenary finally be the first-person-shooter that we have all been waiting for on handhelds?
