MachineGames’ upcoming Indiana Jones game was apparently originally planned to come out on multiple consoles, including the PS5, but following the company’s acquisition by Microsoft under Zenimax, it became an Xbox/PC exclusive. The reveal was made during the hearing for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’s case against Microsoft’s Activision-Blizzard acquisition.

During the hearing, Bethesda head of publishing Pete Hines stated that the Indiana Jones game was an Xbox exclusive for consoles. Disney, who owns the rights to Indiana Jones, apparently “had questions” regarding the game’s platforms following the Zenimax acqusition, according to journalist Derek Strickland on Twitter. Stephen Totilo, another journalist, also confirmed that Disney “had a deal” for the Indiana Jones game to release on multiple consoles.

The Indiana Jones game was originally teased back in 2021, and we still haven’t heard anything about it since then. The game doesn’t even have an official title yet, so it’s still unclear as to what MachineGames’ plans are for it. Here’s the original teaserw which was tweeted out by Bethesda a couple of years ago:

MachineGames worked on multiple Wolfenstein titles, with the company being acquired by Zenimax in 2010. Other than Wolfenstein, the studio also made Quake: Dimension of the Past in 2016 and Quake: Dimension of the Machine in 2021. The Indiana Jones game is currently their next big project alongside Wolfenstein 3.
