Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 10th Anniversary Celebration Sees New Artwork

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance turned 10 years old on February 19, and to celebrate, PlatinumGames designers and other artists who worked on the game have released special artwork to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary. Director Kenji Saito and composer Jamie Christopherson have also written celebratory messages thanking fans for their love, support, and memes in the decade since the game’s release.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance director Kenji Saito issued the following statement for the game’s 10th anniversary:

Hi MGR:R and MGS fans! This is Kenji Saito, the director of METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE.

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE is 10 years old this year. Wait for it… a DECADE has passed! Can you believe it?!
To celebrate this incredible milestone (albeit in a humble manner), we have decided to release some anniversary art to commemorate this special occasion! We are truly grateful to the artists who came up with these amazing creations!

In addition, we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our fans who have supported us and the game over the course of this decade! Thank You!

Ten years after the game’s release, my most recent memory of anything to do with the game is seeing Armstrong and Sam appear in so many memes globally! It feels unreal that MGR:R is still a topic of conversation a whole decade later. This recognition of the game has also led to an increase in player count over the years and we’re also seeing heaps of players continue to stream the game online to this day. This is truly moving stuff…

I still believe that METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE offers an experience like no other, even a decade after its launch!

Cutting and slicing never felt so good!
I look forward to creating many more memories with METAL GEAR RISING: REVEANGENCE in the years to come!

The game’s composer Jamie Christopherson also sent in a special celebratory message:

Hello, this is Jamie Christopherson, the composer for MGR:R.

10 years, Jack. I can’t believe it’s been 10 long years. Thank you so much to all of the old and new fans of the game and soundtrack for “METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE”. I am pleasantly surprised that the game and soundtrack have kept their relevance and continued to be admired and played by fans across the world. Personally, I have found great delight in seeing all of the fun memes, reaction videos and cover versions of the songs that we did for the game. To know that the music and game have brought so many people joy means a lot to me. Thank you for playing and listening, and I can’t wait to see/hear what you all come up with next!

PlatinumGames designers and artists who worked on the game drew new artwork featuring the game’s characters to celebrate the anniversary:

Though Raiden’s voice actor Quinton Flynn did tease new announcements “in the coming weeks” when speaking about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s 10th anniversary in January, it appears that may have been limited to the special artwork released today. Metal Gear fans now interested in picking the spinoff up can find it discounted by 75% on Steam until February 27 in celebration of the game’s 10th anniversary.
