Metal Gear Solid Producer Says 2023 Will Be a “Year of Many Announcements”

Even if there hasn’t been a lick of official information regarding the rumored Metal Gear Solid remake, it appears a Konami dev may have teased the upcoming game — or something — in an interview with Famitsu.

The interview, which included a variety of statements from all sorts of creators in the Japanese game industry, also featured a hint from Konami dev and Metal Gear Solid (MGS) Producer Noriaki Okamura.

He highlighted his keyword for 2023 as “long-awaited,” while also mentioning future announcements planned for 2023:

Other than [the educational edition of Momotaro Dentetsu announced last year], 2023 will be a year of many announcements! Stay tuned!

The statement itself does not directly imply a Metal Gear Solid remake, but a report made last year actually lends a little bit of credence to this speculated tease. The report mentioned multiple Silent Hill IPs in the works, alongside a Castlevania game and, of course, the aforementioned Metal Gear Solid remake by Virtuous.

The first part of the report, at the very least, turned out to be true. A remake of the popular Silent Hill 2 game as well as a new Silent Hill title in Silent Hill: f were recently announced. There are also mentions of another game called Silent Hill: The Short Message, though we don’t have a whole lot of information on it.

This doesn’t necessarily make the MGS remake leak itself (which was part of the same report) any more substantial, but it’s at least something to consider.
