The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta has come and gone, and Infinity Ward has posted a thank you message to players today, which also included a few notable things the studio is looking into as part of the Modern Warfare 2 beta feedback.

Modern Warfare 2 Beta Feedback:

First off, the studio mentions that they will adjust footsteps audio, and wants to balance it at launch.

While sentiment around footstep audio was more positive in Beta Weekend Two, we have seen your continued feedback on the volume of footsteps and will continue to balance enemy/friendly footstep audio ahead of launch.

Infinity Ward says they are looking to tweak enemy visibility without resorting to nameplates as well, which is kind of baffling since they can easily remedy this by, y’know, putting nameplates back.

Enemy visibility is something that came up throughout both weekends of our Beta. While many of you remarked on the improvement in Weekend Two, we’ll look to tweak increased enemy visibility to allow for better visual tracking of opponents that is not solely the traditional nameplate.

The studio has also commented on the weapon tuning changes that was made during the beta, disbanding lobbies, third-person mode and more.

Disbanding lobbies are another topic we addressed during Beta. We feel this is an important feature and are actively looking for potential solutions for launch.

In terms of weapons, we are very happy with the results of the weapon tuning changes we made for Weekend Two for the Beta. We have more changes to come given weapon performance in the Beta and we’re very excited for everyone to get hands on with ALL of the weapons in MWII!

We were excited to see so much interest in our Third-Person playlist. We have heard feedback on the camera shoulder-swapping, and we will continue to make refinements to this mode for launch. More to come!

Ground War and Invasion also got a lot of love from players in Beta. Thanks to our diligent fans, we have many bugs to work through in both of our Battle Map modes. We also have some improvements coming for AI navigation for Invasion.

According to the studio, they are still processing the data from the beta, and will provide more updates as we get closer to launch. TeamRicochet will also provide an update on the anti-cheat measures being taken, which will be shared in the coming weeks.

While I did have fun in the beta, it did have its fair share of weird gameplay design choices. Things like Dead Silence alerting players that it’s being used, weapon unlocking and the UI being cumbersome, and more issues are stuff that we hope will be ironed out when the game launches in October.
