With a new Mortal Kombat movie set to hit theaters next year, it seems that aside from Mortal Kombat 11, fans can look forward to something new to the franchise later this year with a new Mortal Kombat animated feature.

Titled, “Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge,” and has cast Joel McHale (Community) as the voice of Johnny Cage, and Jennifer Carpenter (Exorcism of Emily Rose) as the voice of Sony Blade. The animated film is set to debut someime in the first half of 2020.

NetherRealm Studios boss Ed Boon has shared what seems to be the animated film’s official logo.

While no official plot synopsis has been shared or even any art/screenshots, it’s bound to be better than 1996’s Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm (yes, it was bad). Let’s hope it really is brutal and won’t shy away from violence and getting an M (for mature) rating.

What do you want to see from this new Mortal Kombat animated feature?

In other Mortal Kombat 11 news, the Joker is set to join the MK11 roster (for Kombat Pack owners) later this month! Check out the gameplay trailer here.
