With the release of patch v1.1006.0.0 for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC, players can now connect their Steam and PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts through the game. Doing so grants early unlock bonuses and subscribes players to news and offers for PlayStation Studios games.

Patch v1.1006.0.0 for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered was released earlier today, primarily focusing on performance improvements and added graphical functionality.

Unexpectedly, it also added the ability to link Steam and PlayStation Network accounts through the game, with special rewards:

This update also adds the option to link your Steam and PlayStation Network accounts. Doing so in this game, gives you access to the Resilient Suit and Concussive Blast Gadget and you’ll be granted 2 skill points. You will also receive the latest news, updates and offers from PlayStation Studios games on PC or PlayStation platforms. Account linking is optional and access to the unlocked items is only available while the accounts are linked. If you already unlocked the items and have acquired the maximum number of skill points, you will not unlock any extras.

Interested players can link their Steam and PSN accounts through the game’s menu screen.

The ability to connect your accounts across platforms seems little more than a goodwill gesture on the surface, as the associated rewards can be unlocked through gameplay anyway.

However, references to a PlayStation launcher on PC were found in the game’s files in August, and this addition reinvigorates rumors of Sony’s plans to establish a separate, distinct presence on PC.

The update also brings support for Intel’s XeSS upscaling technology, updates AMD FSR to version 2.1.1, and promises future support for Nvidia DLSS 3. You can find the full list of changes over on the Steam page.
