Nintendo Doesn’t Rule Out Another Switch 2 Price Increase if Current Conditions Continue
Nintendo recently announced a $50 price increase for the Switch 2 because of rising production costs and current market conditions, following the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 as consoles that also became more expensive during their lifecycle instead of getting cheaper over time.
If you thought that was bad, things could get even worse, as Nintendo has now hinted that the Switch 2 could become even more expensive in the future if those same problems continue.
Switch 2 Could Get Another Price Hike in the Future

During the question-and-answer session after Nintendo’s latest financial report (via Nintendo Everything), Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa answered several questions related to Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, video games, and the company’s business plans. One important question asked whether rising component costs could lead to more price changes in the future.
Furukawa admitted that Nintendo still does not know how much the current price increase will affect sales. He also explained that market conditions may not improve in 2027.
He explained, “While there remain uncertainties regarding how component prices will trend in the future, we acknowledge that we are likely to feel the impact not only this year but next year as well. Looking beyond that timeframe, we intend to prepare ourselves to respond flexibly to whatever circumstances may arise.”
In other words, Nintendo Switch 2 could become more expensive again in the future. Nothing is confirmed yet, but if the memory crisis continues and production costs stay high, keeping the current $500 price may become difficult.
For that reason, buying a Nintendo Switch 2 before September 1, when the new price increase takes effect, could be a better option, since the future of hardware prices still looks uncertain.

Nintendo is the most blatantly anti-consumer video game company out there right now. They are literally telling you to buy it now before it gets more expensive, and when people DON’T buy it at the new price, they are already planning on increasing the price.
Please. Do not buy a Switch 2. It has no original games and the ports play much better on the consoles they came out on 5+ years ago. Don’t support old hardware that is being sold for twice what it should.
