Nintendo Stock Rises Over 2% Amid Switch 2 Announcement Rumors
On Monday, October 28, in Japan, Nintendo’s stock on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose by 2% from Friday’s close, likely due to rumors of an anticipated Switch 2 console announcement.
Over the weekend, multiple insiders suggested that Nintendo could reveal the Switch 2 on October 28 or 29, leading some to expect an announcement early this week. PH Brazil, a well-known insider and former journalist, shared in a stream that he expects an announcement between Monday and Tuesday this week.

While some might doubt this prediction, another insider, Pyoro, has added weight to the rumors. Pyoro hinted at the upcoming reveal by updating his social media banner to an image speculated to tease the announcement.
Having said that, these leakers are not as reliable as someone like bilibili-kun, so their claims should be taken with a grain of salt, as there’s no certainty if or how their hints align with Nintendo’s actual plans.
Some fans may feel they’re running out of hope for the Switch 2 to be revealed before 2024 is done, but Nintendo might surprise everyone by announcing a Nintendo Direct today with a teaser tomorrow. This could finally unveil the long-awaited successor to the Switch. As of now, there’s no direct confirmation, only consistent hints from insiders who claim to have knowledge of Nintendo’s activities.
The market also seems to be responding well to these developments, with Nintendo stock rising alongside these rumors. It seems that a Switch 2 announcement is indeed near, and, according to recent reports, development for the Switch 2 is rumored to be complete, with a release targeted for March or April 2025.
Furthermore, the new console is rumored to have updated features, including magnetic Joy-Con attachments and redesigned analog sticks, though these claims remain unconfirmed and should be taken with caution. The price could also be higher than the current Switch but still lower than current generation consoles, though these details are yet to be confirmed.
In other news, Playtonic Games has recently confirmed the platforms for its upcoming remaster of Yooka-Laylee, titled Yooka-Replaylee. Interestingly, the Switch isn’t directly named; instead, Playtonic lists the release for “Nintendo Platforms.” This could mean a general release across the Switch lineup, or perhaps a hint that Yooka-Replaylee will launch on Nintendo’s upcoming hardware.
