Onimusha: Way of the Sword Story Trailer Showcases Protagonist and Gameplay

Onimusha: Way of the Sword may not be due for another year. but that hasn’t stopped Capcom from showing it off. Two months after its reveal, Capcom has released yet another new trailer, this time looking at the story and its new protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi.

Meet Miyamoto Musashi
For those who don’t know, Miyamoto Musashi is a Japanese historical figure portrayed in many stories throughout the decades. In Onimusha: Way of the Sword, his face is modeled after the late Toshiro Mifune, who portrayed the character in classic samurai films. A perfect way to [ay homage not only to Miyamoto Musashi himself but also to Toshiro Mifune.
Capcom provides the following story synopsis for Onimusha: Way of the Sword:
“Onimusha: Way of the Sword takes place in Kyoto, which has been corrupted by malevolent clouds of Malice summoning Hell into the world of the living and plunging feudal Japan’s capital into chaos. Equipped with an Oni Gauntlet, Musashi is granted power beyond human limits allowing him to slay monstrosities from the underworld, including the destructive axe-wielding Byakue, whose power grows when it becomes soaked in its own blood.”
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is currently targeting a 2026 release and will be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remastered was also announced and will be arriving this May.
