Report: Persona 4 Remake to Be Announced at Xbox Games Showcase

If you liked what you saw from Atlus’ remake of Persona 3 last year, we got some good news for you, as another Persona remake is on the way!
We’re a few days away from the Xbox Games Showcase, but one of the surprises planned by Microsoft at the show has come to light. MP1st has learned that one of the megaton announcements planned is none other than a Persona 4 Remake.
Xbox Games Showcase Persona 4 Remake Is One of the Surprise Reveals
A source familiar with the situation has confirmed to MP1st today that Persona 4 Remake will be revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8. It’s planned for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, though we failed to get confirmation if there’s also a Switch 2 version releasing simultaneously.
It’s worth noting that the highly-regarded Persona 3 Reload was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2023. So, seeing a Persona 4 Remake revealed at another one of Microsoft’s shows seems like a logical move to make.
Gameplay details have not been revealed, we are presuming that it will be similar to Persona 3 Reload. Not only were the graphics, audio, and combat systems reworked to be a lot more modern, but Atlus also made adjustments to the story and gameplay. The story arc remains the same, but there are expanded social simulation elements, such as the Iwatodai Dorm.
Not only that, but game’s core combat has been improved drastically, as Atlus tweaked it by removing fatigue, adding the Theurgy System, and a lot more. There are also multiple quality-of-life changes, such as enabling running through areas, which makes exploration much more efficient. While nothing has been confirmed, we are expecting a similar level of added features and improvements.
Whatever Atlus did, it worked very well, as the RPG has managed to hit a Metacritic score of 87, and a “Mighty” rating on Open Critic.
Bear in mind, things do change, so there is a slight chance the Persona 4 Remake could be revealed at Summer Game Fest or pulled from Microsoft’s event, but as far as we’re aware, it should be there.
Our review of the RPG was very positive, stating, “Persona 3 Reload is a great remake for fans of the original, and remains approachable for newcomers to the series. While some tedium can be encountered in some of the dungeon segments, it’s almost expected for a turn-based RPG such as this.”
The Xbox Games Showcase is set to air on June 8 at 10am PT/1 pm ET/1 am HKT/2 am JST.
