Update: As expected, Capcom has unveiled “Resident Evil Requiem” and it features a new protagonist.

While Capcom has confirmed the next entry in the Resident Evil franchise (which we’ll call Resident Evil 9, given Capcom hasn’t given it a proper title yet) is in development, there’s literally zero info about it.

That should be changing this week, as MP1st has learned that the game will be revealed this coming week!

Resident Evil 9 Will Finally Surface

Resident Evil 9 Teased

Earlier today, YouTube channel Screenfire Gaming mentioned that Resident Evil 9 will be revealed at Summer Game Fest on June 6. In German, the channel said (via machine translation), “The following information is of course provided without guarantee, as I have no idea if anything will change here or what it even looks like, but… Oh, screw it. We’ll see the first trailer for Resident Evil 9 at the Summer Game Fest on June 6, 2025, with a targeted release in the first quarter of 2026. I suspect it will be at the end of March for the 30th anniversary, because Capcom mentioned in their investor report that they don’t expect any significant sales increase by then (Q1). That’s why it has to be around the end of March, and yes, it fits well with the anniversary of the series.”

We here at MP1st were also given confirmation by someone familiar with what’s about to happen later this week, and were told that yes, the next Residesnt Evil game (they are unsure if it will be titled Resident Evil 9) will be unveiled this week. Our source cannot corroborate on the release window, though. For now, it’s assumed RE9 will be revealed at Summer Game Fest’s kick off on June 6, unless there’s another show Capcom might unveil the game at.

At the very least, Resident Evil fans will finally have something to look forward to after all this time waiting for a new Resident Evil game to be released.

The news we’ve heard about Resident Evil 9 has mostly been rumors, which, as we all know, could either be outdated info or flat-out fabricated.
