Remember when we reported that we’ll see Resident Evil 9 this week? Yeah, we weren’t lying. To cap off the Summer Game Fest event, Capcom unveiled the first trailer for “Resident Evil Requiem, ” the official title of Resident Evil 9 (RE9)!

Not only did we get a trailer featuring a new protagonist, but we also got a release date, and it’s on Feb. 27, 2026.

The Next Resident Evil Looks to Shake Things Up

As you can see, the protagonist this time seems to be Alysa Ashcroft’s daughter, Grace Ashcroft., her backstory reads (via Resident Evil fandom): “A technical analyst for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ashcroft was sent on the orders of her superior, Nathan Dempsy to investigate a rash of mysterious infections surrounding the Wrenwood Hotel, where her mother was murdered eight years prior. The investigation eventually leads her to the desolate and quarantined ruins of Raccoon City.”

The Ashcroft family is, of course, integral to the Resident Evil franchise for a variety of reasons. This time around, Alysa  seems to be an FBI agent.

Expect Capcom to release more details about the same in the coming months leading up to its Feb. 27, 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
