PNY New Phison E28-Powered Drive Promises Impressive Speeds
As announced by PNY, the CS3250 M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen5 x4 SSD is now available to purchase. They’re the first Phison E28-Powered Drive to hit the consumer market stateside, which is rather exciting, as they boast improved speeds and capacity over previous-gen NVMe drives. Just how fast, you ask? Well, according to PNY, it’s capable of hitting a whopping 14,900 MB/s seq. read and 14,000 MB/s seq. write speeds!
Sure, we’ve seen that in other drives, such as the WD_BLACK 1TB SN8100 (one of the best drives on the market), but here’s the real kicker: the CS3250 (which is now available) begins its MSRP at $125 USD for the 1TB model. For comparison, the WD_BLACK 1TB SN8100, at non-discounted MSRP, typically $179-200 for the 1TB model.
Assuming PNY can actually back those claims when it comes to performance, we might be looking at perhaps one of the best NVMe drives to hit the market to date. Tom’s Hardware recently reviewed the Phison E28, which they dubbed the best Gen 5 NVMe they’ve ever tested. Let’s hope PNY’s version can follow that, though being the first to the consumer already puts it ahead there.
