Pokémon Go Developer to Launch Harry Potter AR Game in 2018

You could say that the success experienced by Niantic’s Pokémon Go AR game has been downright magical. At least, it had a huge population of mobile gamers spellbound during its first month of launch. It has since seen a decline in activity, but still maintains a dedicated fanbase with continued app support.

Well, magic meets magic for 2018, with Niantic now working on a Harry Potter AR game called “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite”.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive and its new sub-brand Portkey Games.

We’ve got the name, but other details are scarce. However, we can predict that features which made Pokémon Go a success to be copied over or evolved somewhat.

What would you like to see from Harry Potter: Wizards Unite? Can the wizarding world be as compelling as catching and training your very own Pokémon? Let us know if you think this will succeed or flop!

In other news, Star Wars Battlefront II‘s producer claims that “loot boxes are sometimes a necessity,” Call of Duty: WWII‘s nuke is real and here’s how you earn it, and the latest Battlefield 1 update is out now and adds the first Operation Campaign to the game.
