PlayStation Plus Price Increase Goes Live on May 20; Here’s How Much Every Tier Has Increased
It feels like PlayStation prices are rising faster than ever. First, Sony increased the price of the PlayStation 5, with the “Pro” model going up by as much as $150.
Then yesterday, Sony announced another price increase, this time affecting its digital subscription service, PlayStation Plus Essential.
And if that was not enough, Sony has now officially implemented price increases across all PlayStation Plus 1-month and 3-month subscription tiers starting today, May 20.
New PlayStation Plus Prices for All Tiers

The changes mainly affect the shorter subscription plans. For now, the 12-month annual subscriptions are staying the same.
Here are the new PlayStation Plus prices:
1-Month Subscriptions:
- Premium: $19.99 (previously $17.99)
- Extra: $16.99 (previously $14.99)
- Essential: $10.99 (previously $9.99)
3-Month Subscriptions:
- Premium: $54.99 (previously $49.99)
- Extra: $43.99 (previously $39.99)
- Essential: $27.99 (previously $24.99)
Sony says the changes are happening due to current “market conditions,” the same explanation the company has used for recent price increases across the PlayStation ecosystem.
The company also said current subscribers will keep their current prices until their subscription ends or they change their subscription plan, except in Turkey and India.
As mentioned earlier, the 12-month plan is still not affected, but if Sony makes another announcement, we’ll make sure to let you guys know here at MP1st.
In other news, PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst reportedly told staff that future single-player PlayStation-exclusive games may no longer come to PC and could stay only on PS5.
