PS4 Update 13.04 Released on January 28
While the PS4 might be in its teens already, Sony isn’t done supporting the console just yet, as PS4 update 13.04 is available for download today, January 28.
Given the console’s lifecycle, don’t expect anything major from it, as this is another security patch.
PS4 Receives First System Update of 2026 as Version 13.04
Sony mentions the following as what got changed for the PS4 with today’s update:
Version: 13.04
- We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.
That’s about it. While it doesn’t go into specifics, these security patches are usually aimed at homebrew and piracy countermeasures. More often than not, these are released to plug a hole that allowed a program to run unlicensed software or counterfeit games.
Aside from the PS4, the PS5 also received a system update today, and this one actually adds new features.
Don’t expect another PS4 update anytime soon unless it’s for another security patch. Once there is one pushed out, we’ll have it up on the site.

How are going to write an article and basically say “yeah they updated it” and thats it? At that point dont even write it. The people who know about the update already know. Theres no need for this.
Not true. I keep my PS4 offline to make sure it doesn’t upgrade for various ‘reasons’… Knowing there is a new update to avoid is helpful to some…
