PS4 Update 14.02 Released for Security
In a span of two weeks, Sony has released two firmware updates for the PS5, and today, it’s the PS4’s turn.
Players will be able to download PS4 update 14.02, and this is a small download.
Don’t expect this to add any new features, as Sony released this system update to keep the console more secure.
PS4’s Latest Update Is Aimed at Security
Sony’s changelog is very basic, as it states:
- We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.
While Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be released on PS4, Sony’s concerns about jailbreaks do extend to the PS4 as well, given the console shares the same PlayStation ecosystem and space as its current-gen brother.
Sony has never commented on the jailbreak and homebrew community, but these security patches are often aimed at plugging exploits and potential holes that the homebrew community can take advantage of.
Given the console’s lifecycle, don’t expect a lot of system updates for it, nor any features to be added.
But if we do get another firmware update, we will let our readers know.
