PS5 Access Controller Gets Logitech Adaptive Gaming Kit, Pre-Orders Up As Well

Announced back in January, the PS5 Access Controller is now approaching its official launch. Sony has released a detailed video highlighting its features and demonstrating how it will bring the joy of gaming to players with various disabilities.

The development of the Access Controller began five years ago, involving multiple design concepts and prototypes. Extensive testing was conducted with accessibility experts and community playtesters with disabilities. The ultimate objective was to create a design that is compatible with a wide range of players.

PS5 Access Controller Accessibility Explained:

The accessible experience starts from the moment you start unboxing the product. Designed to be openable with one hand, the Access controller’s packaging features convenient loops that can be pulled from the left or right side, and additional loops on the inside to help you open the boxes and slide the controller out easily. The interior features slots that conveniently organize the various kit components – including 19 interchangeable button caps and 3 stick caps – in a single layer for easy identification and access.

Furthermore, in collaboration with Logitech, Sony is introducing the Adaptive Gaming Kit for the Access Controller. This kit offers a variety of options for the players with different disabilities. Some of its biggest features have been highlighted below:

  • 8 plug-and-play buttons and triggers, including two small buttons and two large buttons that feature gaming-grade mechanical switches, two light-touch buttons, and two variable trigger controls. Easily configure them on your PS5 console to suit your gaming needs.
  • Firm gaming mats with a hook and loop system that let you freely lay out buttons and triggers to fit your unique needs.
  • Velcro ties to maximize mounting options, such as attaching buttons and triggers to objects like arm rests.
  • Custom stick-on labels of PS5 symbols so you can easily mark your buttons and triggers for seamless gameplay.

Sony also confirmed that the PS5 Access Controller will be compatible with third-party buttons, specialty triggers, and other accessories through its industry-standard 3.5mm expansion ports.

The Access Controller launches December 6, 2023, for $89.99, and it is available for pre-order right now.

I love the concept of the PS5 access controller, and how they worked with the military disabled veterans. This controller is brilliant, because “if your unable to enjoy gaming your left out of the conversation” i want the access controller, you couldn’t ask for a more reasonable price point.
