Sony Announces Project Leonardo, a PS5 Controller Kit With a Focus on Accessibility

A brand-new PS5 controller kit, codenamed Project Leonardo, was recently announced by Sony at CES. The controller was made with a focus on accessibility and ease of use, allowing gamers to comfortably and freely play video games.

The device features multiple buttons in a format similar to radial menus, with a joystick on one end of the wheel. Various buttons rest on the edge of this wheel, and all of them are fairly close to one another.

“Project Leonardo is highly customizable,” Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan states, “and works out of the box, providing a robust kit of swappable components and a suite of software options on PS5.” Owners of a Project Leonardo controller kit will be able to customize their device’s hardware and software aspects very flexibly, allowing gamers with disabilities to play their favorite titles without inconvenience.

You can use a Project Leonardo controller on its own, but it can also work alongside another Project Leonardo controller or with a DualSense controller, depending on your preferences. This should provide even further access to games and titles that previously were difficult for players with disabilities to enjoy.

Sony didn’t really mention anything else regarding Project Leonardo, but Ryan states that he and Sony “can’t wait to share more details soon.”

As goofy as this looks, I’ll get it for the hell of it. Maybe win a local fgc tournament.
