PS5 DualSense Controller Will Have Updatable Software

PS5 DualSense Controller

While we’re used to our consoles getting firmware updates from time to time, we haven’t gotten any for our gaming controllers just yet — at least for first-party ones. That seems to be changing with the PS5 DualSense controller.

In Sony’s latest refresh of the official PS5 website, tucked away at the very bottom is this sentence that confirms that the PS5 controller will have firmware upgrades too.

Always update your PS5 system software and the wireless controller device software to the latest version.

This could be the reason why PS5 games won’t be playable using the PS4 controller the DualShock 4, which was mentioned by Sony yesterday when it outlined some of the official peripherals that will be compatible from the PS4 to PS5.

In other PS5 controller news, a rumor surfaced over the weekend that mentions how the battery life of the DualSense will be 3-4 hours longer than the DualShock 4. Mind, this is a rumor for now, but we’re hoping it’s the real deal.

Don’t forget, a new State of Play is happening this week that will focus on games, and won’t have any major PS5 news according to Sony.
