Pretty soon you’ll be able to, as Sony has now released details on game captures on the console being accessible via the PlayStation App on mobile, allowing players to easily and conveniently access their best gaming screeshots and clips on the platform. Detailed further in a post from Sony, the PS5 game captures sharing on the PS App is currently live in only two regions: Canada and Japan. However, pretty soon it will be joined by a number of countries, namely:

  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Mexico
  • Brazil
  • Nicaragua
  • Panama
  • Chile
  • Paraguay
  • Colombia
  • Peru
  • Ecuador
  • United States
  • El Salvador
  • Uruguay
  • Guatemala

The feature is gradually being rolled out in the Americas, so be sure to check in every once in a while to see if the game capture sharing for the PS5 is finally available on the PS App in your region.

Here are a few more details on the PS5 game capture feature on the PS App:

Game captures on PlayStation App 

By enabling this feature, your PS5 console will begin to auto-upload game captures to the cloud. Your captures of games will then be available in PlayStation App for 14 days after they are created on your PS5 console. The following captures will be uploaded:

  • Gameplay videos under 3 minutes long that are non-4K.
  • Screenshots taken from the Create Menu or Create button shortcuts.

You’ll be able to share captures with your PlayStation™Network friends or parties from the app, save them to your device, or post them on social media platforms.

How to enable PS5 game captures on PlayStation App 

In order for screenshots and videos to be auto-uploaded, make sure you have set up the following:

  • Your PS5 console needs to be linked to PlayStation App.
  • Your PS5 console needs to be left in rest mode and have the Stay Connected to the Internet setting enabled.

How to view PS5 game captures on PlayStation App

Once you have enabled auto-upload, any supported screenshots and video clips captured on your PS5 console will be automatically uploaded. You can see them on PlayStation App by selecting Library > Captures. When viewing a capture on PlayStation App you can:

  • Select Download to save the capture to your device.
  • Select Share and then a party to share your capture via Game Base.
  • Select Share > Share via to send your capture using another supported app on your device.
  • View more information about your captures.

How to share game captures in a party on PlayStation App

Once you have enabled auto-uploads, you can send any new captures using party chat:

  1. On PlayStation App select Parties and then choose a party or create a new party.
  2. From the party message screen, select the + icon and select Media > Captures and select a capture to send.

What captures are available on PlayStation App?
Video clips and screenshots of games are available in this app for 14 days after you manually create them on your PS5 console. Trophy moments and Activity Challenge auto-captures aren’t uploaded.

What video clips can be accessed on PlayStation App?
Your video clips up to 1920×1080 in resolution and up to 3 minutes in duration are uploaded. Video clips saved in a higher resolution will not be uploaded.

Can I use captures without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Please note that downloading or sharing videos with other apps might require a lot of mobile data.

Do I need a PlayStation Plus subscription to use this feature?
No. Your captures are stored for 14 days on SIE’s cloud servers in order to make them available to you via PlayStation App.

Can I manually upload screenshots/videos?
No, you cannot manually upload content. Your captures of games will be available in PlayStation App for 14 days after they are created on your PS5 console

I’ve just enabled this feature. Why don’t I see any captures from the last 14 days?
You will begin to see captures after this feature is enabled. Content captured on your PS5 console before activating this feature is not available for sharing.

Will the video clip recordings include audio?
Yes, video clips include audio from microphone or from party voice chat, if enabled.

Will deleting a screenshot or video on my console also delete it from PlayStation App?
No. Captures can still be accessed on PlayStation App for 14 days if the Capture setting has been enabled.
