The future of the franchise may lie in its past.

Last month it was reported that Activition would be returning back to its “roots” with this years iteration of Call of Duty, and if leaks are to be believed this means a return back to its classic World War II settings. The leak surfaced from gaming youtube channel, TheFamiliyVideoGamers, which is an image of a hard steelcase for the physical version of the game. Down below you can see the title is simply called, “Call of Duty: WWII”

The last WWII themed call of duty was World at War, which released back in 2008. Now like all leaks, take this with a grain of salt, but all things considering it is that time of year where Call of Duty leaks start popping up. In fact, nearly all Call of Duty titles have had major leaks ahead of their reveals, and with E3 just three months away it won’t be long before we know for sure.

So what do you guys think, is this where the series should be heading? Or perhaps it should continue with its futuristic setting established in the last few call of Duty games.
