Report: DualSense PC Owners Will Finally Be Able to Update Their Controllers Without a PS5

DualSense PC

If you’re one of the many people who use a DualSense controller on PC but don’t own a PS5, you’ll still be able to update your controller’s firmware soon it seems. This nugget of info was spotted via a new firmware updater for DualSense license agreement that surfaced online.

Sony themselves posted it on the official PlayStation site before yanking it earlier today (it now leads to a 404 page). Thankfully, web cache is here to save the day! You can check it out here, and we also took a screenshot of it.

Given how Sony pulled this, chances are, this is something that’s not ready to be announced or rolled out yet, though it is coming down the pipe. While the DualSense will work even if it’s not updated, I wouldn’t be surprised if some games integrate the haptic feedback and other features of the DualSense that can’t be activated unless its firmware is updated.

Once we know more about this, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Thanks, rockagent!
