Report: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Villain DLC Spotted in Debug Menu

Report: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Villain DLC

In case you didn’t know, Insomniac Games released a new title update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which introduced New Game+ alongside new suits, accessibility features and more. However, the studio also accidentally included a way for players to check the game’s debug menu, which seems to point that DLC featuring a Spidey villain (the Beetle) is incoming to players.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Villain DLC Info From Debug Menu:

Check out the screenshot of it (via Reddit user Dapiex):

For those unaware, Insomniac Games acknowledged the debug menu situation earlier today stating that accessing it might leave to save game issues and more.

For reference, this Beetle DLC info was also spotted in the game’s code back in January 2024 as well.

Not familiar who the Beetle is? Here’s an origin explanation (via Villain Fandom):

“Abner Jenkins was a mechanic for an aircraft producer. Tired of his boring, low paying job and not getting promotions he thought he deserved he decided to strike out on his own in search of fame and fortune. Using a suit of armor, Jenkins became the Beetle. As the Beetle, Jenkins was often foiled by superheroes.”

Of course, given there is no announcement for this year, treat it with a grain of salt. For all we know, this could very well be leftover code that the devs didn’t take out, which means the Beetle DLC might have been cut content that didn’t make it into the final version of the game.

Would you want to see Beetle as a DLC villain for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Or should the studio focus on more high tiered villains like Carnage instead? Sound off and let us know in the comments.

So i guess the dlc is already in the game but it’s locked behind a firewall so players can’t access it until it’s available. This is a common practice, but makes it easy for data miners to discover hidden content before it’s announced.
