Report: Modern Warfare 2 Banner Spotted on Steam (Update)

Could the Call of Duty franchise be making a return to Steam on PC? This seems like a possibility now, as a banner for Modern Warfare 2 (2022) has been spotted on the platform!

Update (June 2, 2022): The official Steam Twitter account just quote tweeted the Call of Duty reveal date, which means this confirms that Modern Warfare 2 will be on Steam!

If you go to the Black Ops 3 Steam page, you’ll see the Modern Warfare 2 banner featuring the MW2 2022 logo and Ghost, which is the same artwork released officially by Activision last week.

Clicking the banner will lead to what Reddit user RdJokr1993 refers to as a “curator page” that redirects to the Steam storefront. This is usually the case given the particular page is either private, doesn’t exist, is region locked and so on.

If true, could this be a way for Activision to snag more sales given how Call of Duty Vanguard has underperformed commercially according to Activision. For reference, the last Call of Duty game released on Steam was Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WWII, which came out back in November 3, 2017. Since then, the franchise has been available exclusively on Activision’s own Battle.net platform.

Note that nothing has been announced just yet, and we’ve reached out to Activision regarding this and will update the post if we hear anything back.
