Rockstar Games has finally acknowledged and addressed the GTA 6 leaks that started circulating around the internet yesterday. Yesterday’s leak consisted of in-game screenshots and gameplay from an early build, and also some of GTA 6’s source code. Rockstar Games had not commented on this breach as of yet, but has now finally given a statement saying that they are “extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game (GTA 6) shared with you in this way.”

The developer says that it will continue to work on GTA 6 as planned, and will properly introduce the game to players once it’s ready. Read the full statement below:

“We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto. At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects.

We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations. We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support through this situation.”

Thankfully, Rockstar Games has cleared up the part where people suggested the game might get delayed due to its source code getting leaked by saying they do not anticipate any major disruptions in their development of ongoing projects.

GTA 6’s leak is regarded as the biggest leak ever in the gaming industry due to the magnitude of the title, and the number of details that were shared. It’s good for the fans to finally get an official update of what’s happening around it.
