Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2 Case and Protector Leaked by Alibaba, Hinting at Larger Screen
While Nintendo has yet to officially unveil the Nintendo Switch 2, leaks continue to surface, providing glimpses of the next-generation console. In the absence of an official announcement, accessories claimed to be designed for the Switch 2 are already making their way onto the popular Alibaba platform.
It’s not uncommon for accessory manufacturers to gain early access to information about a console’s design and measurements in order to have accessories ready for launch. On Alibaba, several screen protectors and cases are being listed, claiming to feature “precise measurements” for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Leaked Accessories Give Clues About Switch 2’s Design
These accessories can be compared with those designed for the original Switch, offering some insight into the potential size and design of the new console. One notable accessory—a case—measures 290 x 135 x 50mm, but it doesn’t provide definitive details on the console’s dimensions.
While these accessories could be misleading or even fake, the measurements, if accurate, suggest that the Switch 2 may feature a slightly larger screen compared to its predecessor.

In related news, a blurry video recently posted on the Chinese website Bilibili shows someone detaching the Joy-Con controllers from the side of a Switch 2 screen. The controllers appear to feature magnets along their edges, which could be used to magnetically attach them to the console. The footage also highlights infrared cameras, larger shoulder buttons, and what appear to be pedal-like buttons on the backs of the controllers.
Looking ahead, Nintendo is expected to officially unveil the Switch 2 before the end of its current fiscal year, which concludes on March 31, 2025. Although there was speculation about an October announcement, it now seems more likely that the reveal will happen by December 31. Additionally, The Nintendo Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with the existing library of Switch games.
