To the surprise of no one, it would appear that Battlefield 2042  is about to get a bit festive, as the latest update has unintentionally revealed a new Battlefield 2042 Santa Clause skin along with other Christmas-themed rewards.

For those who were able to download and play Battlefield 2042 with the latest patch earlier today, you may have noticed a few new locked character and vehicle skins that will be part of the upcoming pre-season challenge rewards. Well, turns out that these skins were unintentionally included, and since then DICE has removed them from the player’s collection screen. Luckily, with this being the internet and all, Reddit users have managed to capture these skins before being pulled.

Battlefield 2042 Santa Clause and Other Christmas Skins

While this shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, it doesn’t seem like the Battlefield community is taking too kindly to these additions. While they’re solely cosmetics, and play no role in giving players any gameplay advantages, many are seeing this as DICE and EA’s attempt to capitalize (despite skins being free) on the success of Warzone and Fortnite. Specifically the Battlefield 2042 Santa Clause skin, which has long been joked and worried about in the Battlefield community that DICE would eventually do at some point in the Battlefield franchise.

While we don’t mind the vehicle and gun (if there are some) camos, we do understand where the community is coming from, as this brings a concern that the game will eventually be filled with other meme-like character skins, even that crossing over from other franchises. Of course that’s yet to be determined, but it’s clear that the community does not want these types of skins — especially more so when you look at the amount of customizations that past Battlefield games have had that Battlefield 2042 lacks in.
