Sonic Frontiers just reached a significant milestone. The newest Sonic game entry recently reached 2.5 million sales worldwide. The game just released last November 8, making the milestone for Sonic Frontiers sales all the more impressive.

And the game still has plenty of updates to come. A recent tweet from the official Sonic the Hedgehog account laid out SEGA’s plans for Frontiers in a visual roadmap:

With multiple free updates to come in 2023, including new playable characters and a story, it looks like Sonic Frontiers fans can look forward to playing the game again even after finishing it.

Despite the strange holdbacks and design anachronisms, I really liked this game. I think it’s one of the strangest games I have ever played. The oddity of Sonic and company being as cartoony looking as ever running around a naturalistic environment seriously reminiscing on things like friendship and legacy will never not be odd. But the moment to moment action can be some of the best Sonic has ever had.
